Wheeler Center

Built in 1969, the Wheeler Center serves as the centerpiece for Belmont Abbey Athletics. The facilities gym is the home for Crusader men's and women's volleyball, men's and women's basketball, acrobatics and tumbling, cheer, wrestling and Belmont Abbey's fan base, The Red Sea.

The gym saw its first collegiate action in 1970 with men's basketballs inaugural season inside the facility.  Over the years, it has seen an addition of numerous sports including women's basketball in 1981, women's volleyball in 1982, wrestling in 2006, men's volleyball 2013, and acrobatics and tumbling beginning in 2019.

The Wheeler Center is named after Howard "Humpy" Wheeler, the school's longtime coach and athletic director.

The Wheeler Center houses 24 athletic department offices and meeting rooms, 13 team locker rooms, an athletic training room, Sports Performance Center and the department's laundry facility.
